Pleasant Bend, Ohio facts for kids
Pleasant Bend is a small, unincorporated community located in Henry County, in the U.S. state of Ohio. An unincorporated community is a place where people live, but it does not have its own local government like a city or town does. Instead, it is usually governed by the larger county around it.
A Look Back: The History of Pleasant Bend
Pleasant Bend has a short but interesting history. A post office was first opened in the community in 1879. This was an important place where people could send and receive mail. The name of the post office was changed slightly to "Pleasantbend" in 1896. However, the post office eventually closed its doors in 1928.
The community got its unique name from the way the railroad tracks curve around the area where the town first started. It was a "pleasant bend" in the tracks, which gave the community its name!
