Who Lived at Plumb Grove?
The house was first built for the Nesbitt family around 1832. They owned the property for many years. The Nesbitt family lived there until 1893.
After the Nesbitts, the property was sold to Rosa E. Warner. The Warner family then lived in the house for a long time. They called Plumb Grove home until 1967.
From Home to School Site
In 1967, the Washington County Board of Education bought Plumb Grove. They planned to build new schools there. These schools were going to be Clear Spring Middle and High Schools.
However, the historic house was saved. It was decided that Plumb Grove was too important to be torn down.
