The story follows Ash Ketchum and his best buddy Pikachu as they explore the exciting Kalos region. They meet new friends like Clemont, his little sister Bonnie, and Ash's childhood friend Serena. Together, they discover awesome new Pokémon and learn about the mysterious Mega Evolutions.

This season first aired in Japan from October 17, 2013, to October 30, 2014, on TV Tokyo. In the United States, it started on January 18, 2014, and finished on December 20, 2014, on Cartoon Network. There was even a special preview of the first two episodes on October 19, 2013!

Ash's Kalos Journey Begins

First Gym Battles

Ash's first challenge is the Santalune City Gym, led by Viola. He has a tough battle but learns a lot. After some training, he challenges her again and wins his first Kalos Gym Badge! Later, Ash heads to Cyllage City to face Gym Leader Grant, who uses Rock-type Pokémon. Ash uses his Pokémon's speed and strategy to win his second badge.
