Why Pok Pok Closed
In March 2020, the restaurant industry faced big challenges. This was due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Many places had to close or change how they operated.
Pok Pok first tried to offer takeout and delivery. This allowed people to still enjoy their food at home. However, the situation became very difficult for restaurants.
In June 2020, Chef Ricker announced that some Pok Pok locations would close for good. These included Pok Pok NW and Whiskey Soda Lounge. The Pok Pok Wing locations in northeast and southwest Portland also closed.
Finally, in October 2020, the original Pok Pok restaurant closed permanently. All remaining locations also closed. The pandemic made it too hard for the restaurants to keep running.
