Pola de Allande is a charming town and a parish located in Allande, a municipality in northern Spain. It is part of the autonomous community of Asturias. The town is surrounded by the beautiful Cantabrian mountains. It serves as the capital of its parish. Pola de Allande was founded a long time ago, between the years 1262 and 1268.
Oviedo, the capital city of Asturias, is about 104 kilometers (65 miles) away. The Nison River flows right through the middle of the town. This river was once known for its trout, but fishing is now not allowed there.

Historic Castle of Pola de Allande
The parish is home to a very old castle, the Palace of Cienfuegos de Peñalba. This castle was built in the 15th century. It stands on a hill above the town and has been a symbol of the city for many years.
Camino de Santiago Route
Pola de Allande is also located on the Camino Primitvo path. This is one of the ancient routes of the Camino de Santiago. The Camino de Santiago is a famous network of pilgrimage routes leading to the shrine of the apostle Saint James the Great in Santiago de Compostela.
