Pola de Laviana is a lively town in northern Spain. It is one of nine areas called parishes in Laviana. A parish is like a small district or division within a larger area. Laviana is a municipality, which is similar to a county or a local government area.
Pola de Laviana is part of the Asturias region. Asturias is both a province (a type of administrative area) and an autonomous community (a region with its own government) in Spain. This town is the biggest parish in Laviana. It is located in the beautiful Nalon Valley.
Pola de Laviana is also the main town, or capital, of the Laviana municipality. The parish covers about 9.8 square kilometers (about 3.8 square miles). In 2011, about 9,106 people lived there.

- Church of Our Mistress of Otero: This church was built after the 15th century. It has a special shape called a Latin cross. It also has a bell gable, which is a wall with openings for bells. This church is dedicated to the town's patron saint.
- Chapel of San José: This small church was rebuilt in a traditional style. It has decorations that look like mountain art.
