The Poland Railroad Station is an old train station located in Poland, Maine. It was built in 1901 by the Maine Central Railroad. This station is one of the best-preserved small train stations from its time in Maine.
Today, the building is a private home. It has been carefully changed to keep its historic look. The station was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. This means it is an important historic site.

What the Station Looks Like Today
The old Poland Railroad Station is a single-story building made of wood. It has a wide, sloping roof that hangs over the sides. There are two chimneys inside the building. The outside walls are covered with horizontal wooden boards called clapboards. There is also a section with vertical boards.
The roof is held up by strong wooden supports called knee brackets. Even though the building is now a home, many of its original parts are still there. For example, the old ticket office, where people bought train tickets, still has its window grill.
A Brief History of the Station
The Poland Railroad Station was built in 1901. It was part of a special train line. This line connected to the Grand Trunk Railway. The Maine Central Railroad built it to serve Poland village. It also helped people get to the famous Poland Spring Resort.
The train tracks used to run where the driveway for the house is now. The line went from Lewiston to Mechanic Falls. This station is a great example of Maine's train stations from that time. It also shows how old buildings can be changed into new homes.
