Pomp, Kentucky facts for kids
Pomp is a small place in Morgan County, Kentucky. It is called an unincorporated community. This means it is a group of homes and people, but it does not have its own local government like a city or town does. Instead, it is part of the larger county government.
How Pomp Got Started
A post office was opened in Pomp in 1891. This was an important place where people could send and receive letters and packages. The post office served the community for many years, closing down in 1956. The community itself was named after a person named Pomp Kendall. He was an early settler, often called a pioneer citizen, meaning he was one of the first people to live and help build up the area.
