Channel History
Pop wasn't always called Pop! Before June 2003, it was known as Toons & Tunes. In June 2003, it officially changed its name to Pop.
When the channel first started, it mostly showed music videos. But in early 2004, Pop began to air cartoons. Some of the first cartoons included Archie's Weird Mysteries and The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3.
The music videos stayed on the channel for a while. However, they all disappeared by mid-2006. They made a comeback in 2007, but only during a special block called Pop Party.
Logo Changes
Pop's logo has changed several times over the years.
- First Logo: The very first logo had letters that looked like they were being replaced by balloons. All the letters were small (lowercase), and there was no exclamation mark.
- 2006 Change: In October 2006, the logo changed. It featured white letters on an orange background. The letters looked 3D, and an exclamation mark was added. All the letters were now big (uppercase).
- 2008 Change: Pop's logo changed again in 2008. It used to have colorful letters on a blue background. The blue background was removed, and all the letters became red. This red logo is still the current one used on the channel. You might still see the older logo on the Pop website!
