Poplar Creek (also known as Polar Creek) is a small, unincorporated community located in Montgomery County, Mississippi. An "unincorporated community" means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town.

History of Poplar Creek
Poplar Creek has grown over the years. In 1906, about 75 people lived there. By 1960, the population had grown to 350 people. The community also had its own post office, which served residents from 1848 until 1958.

Today, Poplar Creek is protected by the Poplar Creek Volunteer Fire Department. This means that firefighters who live in the community volunteer their time to help keep everyone safe.
Historic Lookout Tower
The Poplar Creek Lookout Tower is a special building. It is listed on the National Historic Lookout Register. This register includes important lookout towers across the country that have historical value. These towers were once used to spot forest fires from high up.
2011 Tornado Event
On April 27, 2011, a strong tornado hit the Poplar Creek area. This tornado was part of a very large weather event called the 2011 Super Outbreak. The tornado caused a lot of damage to trees and power lines in the community. It was classified as an EF2 tornado, meaning it had estimated wind speeds of about 125 miles per hour (201 km/h). The path of destruction was about 1 mile (1.6 km) wide, and the tornado traveled for 11.5 miles (18.5 km).
