The Pops Club de Béisbol was a baseball team from Lloret de Mar, a town in Spain. The name "Pops" comes from the Catalan language word for "octopuses." Many people in Lloret de Mar at that time were descendants of immigrants from Cuba, where baseball is very popular.

The Pops baseball club was active during a time when baseball was quite popular in Spain, mainly in the 1950s and 1960s.

The Team's Beginning and Leaders

The Pops Club de Béisbol was started by Nasi Brugueras and Alex Colomer, who were from Barcelona. The team's main supporter and president was Roque Romero. He was a stockbroker, which means he helped people buy and sell shares in companies. Roque Romero was born in Mendavia, a town in Navarre, Spain.

Roque Romero stayed as the president of the Pops club for its entire history. For some time, he also led the Catalan Baseball Federation. This group helped organize baseball games and teams in the Catalonia region of Spain.

Club's Success and End

The Pops Club de Béisbol won the local Campionat de Catalunya (Catalan Championship) in 1955. This was a big achievement for the team.

However, baseball's popularity in Spain started to fade. People became much more interested in football, also known as soccer. Because of this, the Pops baseball club did not continue into the 1970s. The field where they played baseball was later changed into a field for the local football team.
