Port Nelson is the main port area of Nelson, New Zealand. A port is a place where ships can load and unload goods or passengers.
This area is located northwest of Nelson city centre. It is north of Washington Valley and at the southern end of Nelson Haven. The entrance to the harbour is near the Boulder Bank, just west of Port Nelson.

Nelson Marina
The Nelson Marina is a special dock for boats, like yachts and smaller ships. It is owned by the Nelson City Council, which is the local government for Nelson. The marina is found right in the Port Nelson area.

The council also owns a small public park called Custom House Reserve. This park is located around the port's custom house. A custom house is a building where officials check goods coming into or leaving a country.
