The Portland International Auto Show (PIAS) is a super exciting yearly event where you can see tons of cool cars! It happens at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, Oregon, USA. This big show started way back in 1910 and usually takes place in January or February. About 100,000 people visit the show every year to check out the latest cars and trucks.
History of the Auto Show
The very first Portland auto show happened in 1910. In 2010, the show faced some challenges because of a tough economy. Some car makers decided not to participate that year.
But things got better! The 2011 PIAS show was huge. It featured more than 1,200 cars from 35 different car brands.
In 2012, Chrysler brought something new to the show. They launched their "Camp Jeep" program. This allowed visitors to experience riding in a Jeep on a special course. That same year, the show also had an "ECO Center." This area showed off cars that are better for the environment. Also in 2012, a Lamborghini Gallardo car caught fire during a test. The 2012 show was very popular, with about 100,000 visitors over four days.
