Pouran Derakhshandeh (Persian: پوران درخشنده) is a famous Iranian film director, producer, writer, and researcher. She was born on March 27, 1951, in Kermanshah, Iran. She is known for making movies that often focus on social issues and the lives of children and young people.

Her Journey in Film
Pouran Derakhshandeh finished her studies in film directing in 1975. She went to the Advanced School of Television and Cinema in Tehran. She started her career by making documentary films. These films were for television in Kermanshah and later in Tehran.
One of her first projects was a documentary called Plague (1975). It was about a disease in Kurdistan Province. The next year, she made End Wednesday (1976). This film showed a special ceremony held on the last Wednesday of the year in Iran.
In 1978, she directed Mineral Springs of Rah Haraz. She also made a series of three documentaries about handicrafts in Kurdistan. These were called Moj, janamaz and sajadeh, Nazok kari, and Short–napped coarse carpet. She also created a four-part research documentary. It was about different types of fibers, both natural and man-made.
Between 1979 and 1982, Pouran Derakhshandeh worked on several projects. These included The Wheels Whirl, which looked at factories and industries. She also made Shokaran, a film about social challenges. Her work often explores important topics in society.

Awards and Recognition
Pouran Derakhshandeh has won many awards for her films.
- Her film "Eternal Children" was chosen as the best movie in the "Hygiene, Safety, Health" section at the 37th ROSHD International Film Festival.
- She won the First Prize at the Carlo Vevari International Film Festival for Twenty (20).
- "The Eternal Children" won six "Golden Butterfly" awards at the 21st Children and Young Adults Film Festival. These awards included:
- "The Golden Butterfly" for best artistic and technical film.
- "The Golden Butterfly" for best director of a feature film.
- "The Golden Butterfly" for best young adult artist.
- "The Golden Butterfly" for best feature film (chosen by the Children and Young Adults Jury).
- "The Golden Butterfly" for the audience's favorite feature film.
- "The Golden Butterfly" for the most welcomed Iranian film.
- She received a "Diploma of Honor" for "Eternal Children" from the Hamedan Municipality Jury.
- She won two Crystal Simorgh awards at the 25th Fajr International Film Festival. These were for Best Film Music and Best Actress in a Supporting Role for "Eternal Children".
- Her films "Relationship" and "Little Bird Of Happiness" received a Special Prize from the Educational Department for Handicapped Children.
- A Candle in the Wind won the “Crystal Simorgh” for the best leading actor at the 22nd Fajr International Film Festival.
- She received a Special Mention at "Family Film" for her overall work.
- She won an Honor diploma for “Six Brides for Ameneh” at the Shahrekord “Women and Cinema” Film Fest (2002).
- Her film "A Little Bird of Happiness" won the First "Golden Torch" Prize at the Korean Film Fest (2001). It was also named Best Film at the Women's Film Fest (1992).
- "A Little Bird of Happiness" received an Honor diploma and Grand Prize at the Argentina Women's Film Fest (1988). It also won five awards at the Fajr Film Fest (1987).
- Her film "Hush! Girls Don't Scream" won the Audience Award for Best Film at the 31st Fajr Film Festival (2013). It also won the Best Film Award at the London Iranian Film Festival (2013).
