History of Powell: A Look Back

Powell got its start a long time ago, back in 1883. That's when a post office was opened there, helping people send and receive letters and packages. The community was named after a man named William E. Powell, who was an important official for the railroad at the time. The post office stayed open for about 25 years, closing its doors in 1908.
