Prashant Bhargava (January 12, 1973 – May 15, 2015) was an Indian-American filmmaker and designer. He passed away from a heart attack.
Prashant Bhargava created many interesting films. His short film Sangam was shown at the Sundance Film Festival and on PBS. It was described as a beautiful and poetic film about memories and feelings. He also directed Ammaji, a film about his grandmother. Other works include Backwaters and Kashmir.
His first full-length movie was Patang : The Kite (2012). This film was shown for the first time at the Berlin International Film Festival and Tribeca Film Festival. It received great reviews from newspapers like the New York Times. Famous movie critic Roger Ebert gave it a perfect score of 4 out of 4 stars. He even invited Prashant to show the film at Ebertfest.

Exploring Indian Culture Through Film
Prashant Bhargava's film "Radhe Radhe" (2014) explores springtime traditions in India. For this film, he worked with the talented jazz musician Vijay Iyer. Vijay Iyer created the music for "Radhe Radhe." He based the music on the 100th anniversary of Stravinsky's famous work, "The Rite Of Spring."
Vijay Iyer is a well-known jazz musician and a professor at Harvard University. He composed the live music score for "Radhe Radhe." He performed it with the International Contemporary Ensemble.
Remembering Prashant Bhargava
Prashant Bhargava passed away in 2015 when he was 42 years old. To honor his memory, Vijay Iyer brought "Radhe Radhe" back to life. In 2017, Vijay Iyer was the music director for the Ojai Music Festival. He arranged for the film's music to be performed live.
Members of the Oberlin Ensemble and the International Contemporary Ensemble played the music. UC San Diego music professor Steven Schick conducted the performance. The film was shown on a large screen above the musicians as they played. This was a special way to remember Prashant Bhargava and his work.

Prashant Bhargava grew up in Chicago, Illinois. He went to Kenwood Academy. His interest in art began when he was young, as he enjoyed creating graffiti art. He later studied computer science at Cornell University. He also studied theatrical directing at the Barrow Group and the Actors Studio.
