Pray is a small, unincorporated community in Wisconsin, United States. It is located in Jackson County, within the town of City Point. An unincorporated community means it's a group of homes or businesses that isn't officially a city or town with its own local government.
How Pray Got Its Name
The community of Pray was named after a person! It was named after Herman H. Pray, who was born in 1835.
In 1877, Herman H. Pray became the local postmaster. A postmaster is the person in charge of a post office. When he took on this role, the post office was named after him.
Where is Pray Located?
Pray is found where Pray Road and Old Highway 54 meet. It is also located along the old Green Bay and Western Railroad line. This railroad line used to have a train stop right in Pray.
The community is east of a place called Waterbury. It is also west of Spaulding. Both Waterbury and Spaulding were also old train stops along the rail line.
Pray is about 2.5 miles north of the current Wisconsin Highway 54. This modern highway was finished in 1953.
