Prema Srinivasan (born in 1931 or 1932 – died September 25, 2022) was a talented Indian author. She wrote many books, especially for children.
About Prema Srinivasan
Prema Srinivasan loved children's books. She studied them deeply and even earned a special degree (a Ph.D.) in English children's literature. One of her important books was called Children's Fiction in English in India, Trends and Motifs, published in 1998.
Prema Srinivasan often wrote reviews about children's books for The Hindu, a big newspaper in India. She helped kids and parents find great stories to read. She also wrote her own adventure novel for kids, Treasure Hunters. It appeared in a special section for young readers in The Hindu.
Prema Srinivasan also translated books from English into Tamil, a language spoken in India. For example, she translated Thunderwith by Australian author Libby Hathorn into Tamil, calling it Idiyosai. She also translated Mridu in Madras by Vasantha Surya into Tamil.
In 2009, she published a book called "Footloose and Fancy-Free". This book was a collection of her travel stories.
Her last book, A Visionary's Reach, was released in 2014. A very important person, Sri A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, who used to be the President of India, helped launch the book. This book tells the life story of Prema Srinivasan's grandfather, Chinnaswami Rajam. He was a visionary who sold his big house to start the Madras Institute of Technology in 1949. This institute is now part of Anna University in Chennai. Prema Srinivasan wrote the first chapter and other parts of the book, dedicating it to her father.

Prema Srinivasan was married to T S Srinivasan. He was the youngest son of T. V. Sundram Iyengar, who started the TVS Group of companies. Prema and T S Srinivasan had two sons, Venu Srinivasan and Gopal Srinivasan, who are both businessmen. They also had two daughters, one of whom is Sheela Balaji.
