The President of the World Bank Group is the leader of the World Bank Group. This important person is in charge of running meetings for the bank's main leaders. They also manage the entire World Bank Group.
The person chosen for this job needs to be approved by the bank's Board of Executive Directors. They serve for five years and can be chosen again. For a long time, the World Bank Group president has usually been an American citizen. This person is nominated by the United States, which is the bank's biggest supporter. Most presidents have worked with money or economics before, but some have not.
The current president, the fourteenth one, is Ajay Banga. He was chosen on May 3 and started his job on June 2, 2023.
