The Church Building's History
The first church here was built a very long time ago. People say Saint Baldred, also known as St Baldred of the Bass, started it in the 500s! That's over 1,400 years ago.
The church you see today has parts from different times. The tall tower was built in 1631. The main part of the church was built in 1770. Later, in 1824, the church was made bigger. In 1892, the inside of the church was changed to look new. A special window, called the St Baldred window, was put in during 1959.

The churchyard is the area around the church where people are buried. Many people from the local area rest here. Some famous people are also buried at Prestonkirk.
Andrew Meikle: The Inventor
One important person buried here is Andrew Meikle. He was a clever inventor. He invented the threshing machine. This machine helped farmers separate grain from plants much faster. It was a very important invention for farming.
George Rennie: The Farmer
Another notable person in the churchyard is George Rennie. He was an expert in farming, also known as an agriculturalist. He was also the brother of John Rennie, who was a famous engineer.
