Pretzel Park facts for kids
Pretzel Park is a fun, small park located in the Manayunk area of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Even though it was officially called Manayunk Park from when it was created in 1929 until 2004, people living nearby have called it Pretzel Park for a very long time. This park is a great spot for families and even has a special area for dogs!
Why the Name Pretzel Park?
No one is completely sure how Pretzel Park got its unique name. Some people think it's because the paths winding through the park look a bit like a twisted pretzel. Others believe the park was named after a pretzel seller who used to sell delicious Philly Pretzels right there in the park.
A Pretzel Sculpture for the Park
On November 28, 2005, something special was added to Pretzel Park: a large sculpture of a pretzel! This cool sculpture stands about 6 feet tall, including its base, and quickly became a famous landmark in the park. It's a fun reminder of the park's interesting name.
