Story of PriPri Chi-chan!!

The main character, Chi-chan, is a creature from underground. He came to the human world looking for yummy sweets. After finding what he wanted, he tried to go back home. But he got stuck in the hole he came from!

Luckily, a kind girl named Yuka Saeki found him. She helped dig him out of the hole. After saving him, Yuka decided to take care of Chi-chan at her home. This is how their adventures begin!

Meet the Characters

This series has many interesting characters. They include humans, underground-dwellers, and even aliens!

Human Characters

These are the people who live on the surface world.

Yuka Saeki: The Kind Protagonist

  • Yuka Saeki (佐伯 夕花) is the main human character. She is a middle school student in her second year. Yuka is very kind and always wants to help others. She has long, straight purple hair.
  • Yuka is great at cooking and sewing. However, she is not very good at naming things. She is good friends with Ara, Eimi, and Mii.
  • Yuka is voiced by Momo Asakura.

Yuka's Family and Friends

  • Tomoko Saeki (佐伯智花) is Yuka's mother. She is strict about Yuka's school grades. This is because Yuka once failed her middle school entrance exam.
  • Yamato Suou (周防 大和) is Yuka's classmate. He is very good at claw crane games. Yamato is one of the first humans, besides Yuka, to know about underground-dwellers. He has told Yuka he likes her, but she hasn't given him an answer yet. He is voiced by Shun Horie.
  • Akari Suou (周防あかり) is Yamato's younger sister. She loves playing with Chi-chan after meeting him. She wants to be his friend.
  • Kazuma Mori (森和馬) is Yuka's childhood friend. He is older than her. When they were younger, he used to play tricks on Yuka. He did this because he liked her and wanted her attention.

Underground-Dwellers

These characters come from a world beneath the surface.

Chi-chan: The Sweet-Loving Dweller

  • Chi-chan (ちぃちゃん) is the main underground-dweller. He is about the size of a prize from a crane game. He has a round, yellow body.
  • At first, Chi-chan was scared of humans. He thought they would catch and study him. But after meeting Yuka, his ideas about humans changed.
  • Humans can't understand the names of underground-dwellers. So, Yuka named him "Chi-chan." This name comes from chiteijin (地底人), which means "underground-dweller" in Japanese. Chi-chan often ends his sentences with "-dechi."
  • Chi-chan is voiced by Rie Murakawa.

Chi-chan's Friends and Family

  • Joe-kun (ジョーくん) is Chi-chan's friend. He came to the human world to find Chi-chan when he went missing. Joe-kun has a round, green body. Yuka named him "Joe" because he often says "-dajo." He is voiced by Rika Nagae.
  • Non-chan (のんちゃん) is another underground-dweller. Non-chan looks up to Chi-chan.
  • Chi-chan's father (ちぃちゃんパパ) appeared in Episode 12. He wears a fancy silk hat and has a mustache. He has a yellow body like Chi-chan.
  • Chi-chan's mother (ちぃちゃんママ) also appeared in Episode 12. She wears an apron and a skirt. She has a yellow body, just like her son.

Alien Characters

Not all characters are from Earth or underground!

  • Ucchan (ちぃちゃん) is an alien girl. Yuka rescued her when her spaceship crashed on Earth. Yuka was climbing at the time. The name "Ucchan" comes from Uchuujin (宇宙人), the Japanese word for alien. Ucchan can create many different cool gadgets. She is voiced by Yuuko Kurose.
