Price is a small place in west central Rusk County, Texas, United States. It is called an "unincorporated community." This means it's a group of homes and businesses that doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. In 2000, about 275 people lived there. Price is part of the larger Longview, Texas metropolitan area, which is a bigger group of cities and towns.

History of Price
Early Days and Post Offices
The community of Price began in 1852. A man named Joseph H. Price started a Methodist church there. This church was an important part of the early settlement.
Later, in 1881, a post office opened in the area. It was first called Carlysle, or sometimes Carlisle. This post office helped people send and receive mail until 1904.
Renaming and Growth
Many years later, in 1940, a new post office was opened. This time, it was named Price. It was given this name to honor a local family who were early settlers in the area.
During the 1940s, making oil products was a big part of the local economy. This helped the community grow. Between 1950 and 1980, Price had its largest population, with about 300 people living there. At that time, there were also five businesses in the community.
Recent Years
After 1980, the number of people living in Price slowly went down. By 2000, the population was 275. At that time, there was only one business left in the community.
Geography of Price
Price is located in the western part of Rusk County. It is about 8 miles (13 kilometers) west of a larger town called Henderson. The community is surrounded by the natural landscape of East Texas.

Students who live in the Price area go to schools run by the Carlisle Independent School District. This school district provides education for children from the community and nearby areas.
