Primero, also known as Barrio Primero, is one of the 31 neighborhoods in the city of Ponce, Puerto Rico. It's one of the original six main urban neighborhoods of Ponce, founded way back in 1878. The other original neighborhoods are Segundo, Tercero, Cuarto, Quinto, and Sexto.

Where is Primero Located?
Primero is an urban neighborhood found in the southern part of the city of Ponce. It's located inside the official city limits. You can find it southwest of the city's traditional main square, Plaza Las Delicias.
Primero's Borders
Primero is surrounded by several streets and other neighborhoods.
- To the north, it's bordered by Villa Street.
- To the south, you'll find Ferrocarril and Dr. Ferran Streets.
- The west side is bordered by PR-2R, also known as Carretera Pámpanos or Calle Coto Canas.
- On the east side, it's bordered by Eugenio Maria de Hostos Avenue and Marina Street.
Neighboring Barrios
When looking at other neighborhoods, Primero is bordered by:
- Segundo to the north.
- Canas Urbano to the south and west.
- Cuarto to the east.
Several smaller communities are part of Barrio Primero. These include Ponce de Leon, Los Maestros, Mariani, and Pedro J. Rosaly.
Facts and Figures About Primero
Primero covers about 0.25 square miles (0.65 square kilometers) of land. It does not have any water areas.
In 2000, about 3,550 people lived in Primero. This meant there were about 13,997 people per square mile. By 2010, the population had changed slightly to 3,175 people. The population density was then about 12,211.5 people per square mile.
Important Places in Primero
Primero is home to several important and historic landmarks:
- The Ponce City Hall is located here, on the northeastern side of the barrio. It's the oldest colonial building in the city.
- The Dora Colón Clavell Urban Park is also found in Primero. It's a great place for people to relax and enjoy the outdoors.
- Several historic buildings are also in Primero, including the NRHP-listed Rosaly-Batiz House.
- You can also find the Residencia Zaldo de Nebot on 27 Marina Street.
- The Missionary Society of the Methodist Episcopal Church at 132 Villa Street is another notable historic building in the area.
