Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan was born on May 14, 1971. She is a princess from Jordan. She is also a first cousin to King Abdullah II of Jordan.

Early Life and Education
Princess Sumaya was born in Amman, Jordan, on May 14, 1971. She is the second daughter of Prince Hassan bin Talal and Princess Sarvath al-Hassan.
She started her schooling at the Amman Baptist School in Jordan. Later, she attended the International Community School in Amman. Princess Sumaya then went to the Sherborne School for Girls in England. She studied at the Courtauld Institute of Art at the University of London. She earned a degree in the History of Art. Her special focus was on early Islamic art and buildings.
Helping Her Country
Princess Sumaya works hard to help Jordan grow, especially in science and technology.
Leading Technology and Science
In 1991, Princess Sumaya started the Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT). She has been the head of its Board of Trustees ever since. Her goal was to create a top place for technology research. Today, PSUT is a leading science and technology school in Jordan. It also helps the wider Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
In 2006, her father, Prince Hassan bin Talal, asked her to lead the Royal Scientific Society (RSS). The RSS is a big science center in Jordan. As President of the RSS, Princess Sumaya helps advise the government. She is part of the Higher Council for Science and Technology (HCST). This group gives advice on science and technology policies.
She also started the Queen Rania Centre for Entrepreneurship (QRCE). This is Jordan's first university-based center for new businesses. She also created a competition for students with business ideas.
Working for Peace Through Science
Princess Sumaya has supported SESAME for many years. SESAME is a special science project in the Middle East. In 2017, the King of Jordan asked her to lead Jordan's group at SESAME's opening.
She also led the 8th World Science Forum in Jordan in 2017. This big meeting was about "Science for Peace." It was the first time this forum was held in the Middle East.
Princess Sumaya was named a UNESCO Special Envoy for Science for Peace. Today, she is a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Science for Peace. This means she helps use science to build peace around the world.
Other Important Roles
In 2021, Princess Sumaya became the head of the Board of Trustees for the Amman Baccalaureate School. She has also been the School Director since September 2022.
She is also the Vice Chairman of the Jordan Museum's Board of Trustees. This is Jordan's main national museum. From 2019 to 2022, she was the President of the World Association of Industrial and Technological Research Organization (WAITRO).
Princess Sumaya joined the Jordan Council of Higher Education in 2009. She is also on the advisory board of the Global Young Academy. She is the Honorary President of the Jordan Handball Federation.
Family Life
Princess Sumaya married Nasser Judeh in August 1992. He used to be Jordan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs. They have four children:
