Priscilla Marie Pointer (born May 18, 1924 – died April 28, 2025) was an American actress. She performed in plays, movies, and television shows.
Priscilla started her acting journey in the late 1940s in theater, even appearing on Broadway. Later, in the early 1950s, she moved to Hollywood to act in TV and films. Many people knew her for her role as Rebecca Barnes Wentworth in the famous TV series Dallas.

About Priscilla Pointer
Priscilla Pointer was born in New York City on May 18, 1924. Her mother, Augusta "Gus" Leonora Pointer, was a sculptor and illustrator. Her father, Kenneth Keith Pointer, was an artist.
Priscilla was married to Jules Irving, a director for film and theater. They were married from 1947 until he passed away in 1979. They had three children: Katie Irving, director David Irving, and actress Amy Irving. Priscilla's daughter Amy married famous filmmakers Steven Spielberg and Bruno Barreto. Later, Priscilla married Robert Symonds in 1980. He passed away in 2007.
Priscilla's Acting Career
Priscilla Pointer began acting in the late 1940s. She started in theater, performing in plays on Broadway. She also went on tours for plays like "A Streetcar Named Desire." In 1954, she appeared in the TV series China Smith. After some time away, Priscilla returned to acting in the early 1970s.
Her first big role on TV was in the soap opera Where the Heart Is. She played Adrienne Harris Rainey from 1972 to 1973.
Movies Priscilla Starred In
Priscilla Pointer appeared in many movies. In Carrie (1976), she played the mother of her real-life daughter, Amy Irving's character. She also acted in The Onion Field (1979) and Mommie Dearest (1981).
Other movies include Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983) and A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987). She was also in David Lynch's Blue Velvet. Priscilla played Amy Irving's mother again in Honeysuckle Rose (1980) and Carried Away (1996). They also appeared together in The Competition (1980) and Micki & Maude (1984).
Priscilla acted in three movies directed by her son, David Irving. These were Rumpelstiltskin (1987), Good-bye, Cruel World, and C.H.U.D. II: Bud the C.H.U.D..
