Proctor, Missouri facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Proctor is a small, quiet place in the southwest part of Morgan County, in the state of Missouri in the United States. It's called an "unincorporated community" because it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town does. Instead, it's part of the larger county area.

This community is located right next to the Proctor Creek arm of the famous Lake of the Ozarks. If you wanted to visit Proctor, you could take Missouri Route J, which connects the community to Missouri Route 135 about two miles northeast.

History of Proctor

Proctor has a bit of history! A post office, which is a place where people send and receive mail, was opened in Proctor way back in 1871. This post office was an important part of the community, helping people connect until it closed in 1933. The community actually got its name from the nearby stream called Proctor Creek.
