How Prosperity Got Its Name

The community of Prosperity got its name a long time ago. In 1898, a post office was opened there. One of the people who helped start the community believed that having a post office would bring good things and success to the area. They thought it was a sign of "prosperity," which means doing well or being successful. So, they decided to name the community after this hopeful idea. The post office stayed open for about nine years, closing in 1907.
