History of Providence Town Center
The first part of Providence Town Center opened in October 2009. This included the large grocery store, Wegmans, and several other big shops.
At that time, about 73 percent of the shopping spaces were rented out. However, some stores decided not to open there because of a big economic problem called the Great Recession. This was a time when many people had less money, and businesses were struggling. Because of this, the second part of Providence Town Center was delayed.
In spring 2011, a movie theater called Movie Tavern opened at the center. By this time, more stores started to become interested in opening at Providence Town Center.
Then, in 2012, work began on the second part of the center. This added many new stores and places to eat, making Providence Town Center even bigger and better!
