About Punta Peña

Punta Peña is a charming place with its own unique features. It's known for its natural beauty and the friendly people who live there.

Location and Size

Punta Peña covers a land area of about 19.4 square kilometers (which is about 7.5 square miles). To give you an idea, that's roughly the size of a small city park or a few thousand football fields!

Population and People

In 2010, about 2,520 people lived in Punta Peña. This means that for every square kilometer, there were about 130 people. This number, called population density, tells us how crowded or spread out a place is. For example, a big city would have a much higher population density. Back in 2000, the population was smaller, with 1,730 people living there.

How Punta Peña Was Formed

Punta Peña became an official corregimiento on March 7, 1997. This happened because of a special rule called Law 10. Later, two more rules, Law 5 (from January 19, 1998) and Law 69 (from October 28, 1998), helped to make everything about Punta Peña's official status even clearer. These laws are how governments create and organize different areas within a country.
