Punta Prieta is a small desert town in the Mexican state of Baja California. It is located right on Federal Highway 1, which is a major road in Mexico.

Punta Prieta is a quiet place in the desert. In 2010, only 112 people lived there. The town is 210 meters (about 689 feet) above sea level. It's part of the San Quintín area.
Getting Around: Highway Connections
A few kilometers north of Punta Prieta, you'll find a spot called Parador Punta Prieta. This is an important crossroads. Here, Highway 12 branches off to the east. Highway 12 leads to other interesting places like Bahía de los Ángeles and Punta La Gringa.
