Putt-Putt and Pep's Balloon-o-Rama facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Putt-Putt and Pep's Balloon-o-Rama is an action video game from 1996. It was made by Humongous Entertainment. This game is part of the popular Putt-Putt series of educational games. It was created for younger kids, usually aged three to eight.

The game first came out on October 15, 1996. It was released at the same time as Putt-Putt and Pep's Dog on a Stick. Later, in 2014, it was also released for Linux computers. The game was part of a bigger collection called the Putt-Putt Deluxe Pack. A small handheld version of the game was also made by ToyMax in 1999.

How to Play Putt-Putt and Pep's Balloon-o-Rama

In this fun arcade-style game, you help Putt-Putt. Your goal is to bounce Pep into the air. Pep then pops many colorful balloons. You can even make your own levels to play!

The game is similar to a classic game called Breakout. But in this game, gravity pulls Pep down. This makes Pep's bounces curve and arc. Playing helps you learn good timing and hand-eye coordination.

There are 120 levels to complete in the game. Different balloons have special features. Some balloons hide smaller balloons inside them. Others might contain candy for extra points. Some balloons might have trash that takes points away. Certain balloons can even respawn (come back) after a short time.

You can earn more points by making Pep pop many balloons in a row. This is called creating combos. Look for question mark balloons to get power-ups. You can also hit a small flying saucer that passes by. If you hit it, you go to a bonus round on the moon. On the moon, saucers replace the balloons.

If Putt-Putt misses catching Pep, you lose one life. If you run out of lives, your score goes back to zero. But you can turn on "Junior Helpers." These helpers give you unlimited lives. They also make it easier to catch Pep.

The handheld LCD version of the game is much simpler. It does not have many of the special features. It plays more like a basic Breakout game. You control Putt-Putt's movement with a dial shaped like his steering wheel.

The Story of Putt-Putt and Pep's Balloon Adventure

The story begins when Pep accidentally lets go of some balloons. Putt-Putt had gotten these balloons from somewhere unknown. So, Putt-Putt and Pep start a journey together. They travel to different places from past Putt-Putt adventures.

They visit the zoo from Putt-Putt Saves the Zoo. They also go to the cave where Putt-Putt first found Pep. This cave was seen at the end of Putt-Putt Joins the Parade. Their goal is to find and pop all kinds of balloons. Putt-Putt bounces Pep into the air to hit them.

Their journey eventually takes them to the moon! They get there by boarding a spaceship. However, they do not find the exact balloons that Pep lost. Putt-Putt still praises Pep's balloon-popping skills. After their adventure, they somehow return to Earth.
