Puzzle Pirates facts for kids

Yohoho! Puzzle Pirates is a fun online game where you get to be a pirate! It was created by a company called Three Rings Design. In this game, you sail the ocean, solve different puzzles, and earn special coins called PoE (Pieces of Eight).

This game is designed for players who are 13 years old and older. As a pirate, you can join a group called a crew. Your crew can then become part of a bigger group called a flag. Flags often form alliances with other flags and can even work together to blockade islands.

The game encourages players to use cool pirate words like "Ahoy!", "Yarr!", and "Shiver me Timbers!". By December 2008, over 4 million pirates had signed up to play the game. On August 31, 2011, Yohoho! Puzzle Pirates became free to play on Steam.

How to Play Yohoho! Puzzle Pirates

Yohoho! Puzzle Pirates mixes adventure with brainy challenges. Instead of just fighting, you play puzzles to do pirate tasks.

Sailing the Seas

When you sail your ship, you play a puzzle to control it. The better you are at the puzzle, the faster and smoother your ship moves across the water.

Pirate Jobs and Puzzles

There are many different jobs you can do as a pirate, and each one involves a puzzle.

• Sword Fighting: When you battle other pirates, you play a puzzle game that looks like a matching game.
• Blacksmithing: If you want to make tools or weapons, you play a puzzle where you combine different materials.
• Carpentry: To fix your ship after a battle, you play a puzzle to repair the damage.
• Bilging: Sometimes your ship takes on water. You play a puzzle to pump the water out and keep your ship afloat.

Earning Pieces of Eight

As you play these puzzles and help your crew, you earn PoE. You can use this money to buy new clothes, better weapons, or even your own pirate ship!

Being Part of a Pirate Crew

Joining a crew is a big part of Yohoho! Puzzle Pirates. It makes the game more fun and lets you work with other players.

Working Together

When you are in a crew, you work with other pirates to sail ships, battle enemies, and explore new islands. Everyone helps out by playing different puzzles.

Crews can join a "flag," which is like a big team of many crews. Flags often work together to become powerful and control more islands. They can even form alliances with other flags to become even stronger.
