How Quail Ridge Park Began
Quail Ridge Park opened its doors in the year 2000. The land for the park came from a farmer named Henry L. Stealey. He donated half of the land and sold the other half to St. Charles County in 1998.
Experts from the American Society of Landscape Architects in St. Louis helped design the park. They offered their skills for free!
Exploring the Park's Features
This large park covers about 250 acres. That's like 250 football fields! It has many cool things to do and see.
Fun Activities and Trails
You can enjoy a three-acre lake perfect for fishing. There are also seven miles of trails for walking, running, or biking. Some trails are paved, making them easy to use.
Quail Ridge Lodge and Dog Park
The park has a big building called Quail Ridge Lodge. It's 4,440 square feet and is often rented for special events.
If you have a dog, you'll love the dog park! It opened in 2003 and was the very first off-leash dog park in St. Charles County. It's a big area, about 2.5 acres, where dogs can run and play freely.
Horseshoe Fun and History
Quail Ridge Park is home to the Quail Ridge Horseshoe Club. It also hosts the National Horseshoe Pitchers Hall of Fame and Museum. This museum moved to the park in 2006 from its old home in Tennessee.
The museum teaches you all about the history of horseshoe pitching. You can also find 32 courts for playing horseshoes, both indoors and outdoors. It's a great place to learn about the game or even try it yourself!
