Queenie Chan was born in Hong Kong in 1980. When she was six years old, in 1986, her family moved to Australia. As a child, Queenie loved to read. She especially enjoyed reading manga. She also read Chinese versions of Shonen Jump. This is a very famous Japanese comic magazine. She also liked popular American comics like Garfield and Calvin and Hobbes.

How Queenie Started Drawing Comics

Queenie went to Meriden High School. After high school, she went to the University of New South Wales (UNSW). She studied computer programming there. But in 1998, something changed. She read a manga called Rurouni Kenshin. This comic inspired her a lot. It made her want to write and draw her own manga stories.

Queenie Chan's Career in Comics

Queenie Chan started by publishing her own comics online. These were called web comics. Later, in 2005, she decided to show her work to a company called Tokyopop. Tokyopop is a big publisher of manga. She was successful! Tokyopop published her three-book series called The Dreaming.
