Queensland Centre for Photography facts for kids
The Queensland Centre for Photography (QCP) was a special place for photographers and art lovers. It was run by artists and showed amazing photos from 2004 to 2014.
The QCP had to close its doors in Brisbane. This happened because the Queensland state government stopped giving it important funding in October 2013. The people in charge of the QCP decided together in April 2014 that they had to close their exhibition space.
About the Queensland Centre for Photography
The Queensland Centre for Photography started at 33 Oxford Street in Bulimba, Queensland, Australia. Later, it moved to a new building in South Brisbane, Queensland, at the corner of Cordelia and Russell Streets.
What QCP Did
The QCP was known as one of the best photography places in Australia. It offered many exciting things for people interested in photography:
- Exhibitions: They showed around 44 different photography shows each year. These were spread out over 11 exhibition periods.
- Publications: They created books and other materials about photography.
- International Projects: They worked on projects with photographers and artists from other countries.
- Queensland Festival of Photography: They also ran a big festival dedicated to photography in Queensland.
The QCP played an important role in sharing and celebrating photography in Australia for ten years.
