Quick City, Missouri facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Quick City is a small place in the United States, located in Johnson County, Missouri. It's what we call an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government. Instead, it's part of the larger county government.

You can find Quick City in the southwestern part of Johnson County. It sits right on the north side of a stream called Big Creek. It's about three miles northwest of another small town called Blairstown.

History

Quick City was first planned out in 1886. A man named Morris Quick decided to create this community. He even named it after himself!

When a community is "platted," it means someone drew up a map. This map showed where streets, lots for houses, and other areas would go. It's like designing a neighborhood before building it.

A post office opened in Quick City in 1886. This post office helped people send and receive mail for many years. It stayed open until 1967, when it finally closed down.
