History
Quincy has an interesting past, even though it's a small community today.
A post office was opened in Quincy in 1855. This was an important place for people to send and receive mail. The post office served the community for many years. It finally closed down in 1900.
Quincy was once a very important spot in Adams County. It used to be the "county seat." The county seat is like the main office for the county's government. It's where important decisions are made and records are kept.
Over the years, the number of people living in Quincy changed. In 1902, about 108 people called Quincy home. By 1925, the population had decreased to 50 people. In 1940, there were 45 people living in Quincy.
