Rachel Hunter (born 8 September 1969) is a model and actress from New Zealand. She is also known for hosting the TV show Rachel Hunter's Tour of Beauty. As a model, she appeared on the covers of many famous magazines. These include Vogue, Elle, Rolling Stone, and Harper's Bazaar.

Hunter was featured on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue two times. The first time was in 1994 with models Kathy Ireland and Elle Macpherson. The second time was in 2006, where she appeared with six other models.

Early Life and Education

Hunter was born in Glenfield, a suburb of Auckland, New Zealand. She went to school at Glenfield College. Her parents separated when she was a child.

When she was young, Rachel wanted to be a ballet dancer. However, at age 13, she became ill with a sickness called toxoplasmosis. This illness stopped her from pursuing her dream of dancing.

Career Journey

Starting as a Model

Hunter began her modeling career when she was 16 years old. She worked in France, Australia, and New Zealand. She appeared in magazines like Australian Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. In New Zealand, she became famous as the "Trumpet Girl" in ads for Tip Top ice cream.

Soon, she was signed by the famous modeling agency Ford Models. This led to a big contract with CoverGirl cosmetics. She became a spokesperson for the company, which made her even more well-known. Hunter became a global star after she appeared as a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model in 1989.

She was on the cover of the "Dream Team" Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue in 1994. She shared the cover with supermodels Elle Macpherson and Kathy Ireland. Twelve years later, in 2006, she was on the cover again by herself. Hunter has also been on the cover of Italian Vogue and many international versions of Elle.

She had a small role in the 2006 movie The Benchwarmers. She also famously played the mother in the music video for the song "Stacy's Mom" by the band Fountains of Wayne.

In 2005, Hunter was a contestant on the first season of the American dance competition show Dancing with the Stars. She is also an ambassador for The Born Free Foundation, a charity that protects wildlife. She even started the Rachel Hunter Lowland Gorilla Fund to help gorillas.

In 2015, she hosted her own TV series, Rachel Hunter's Tour of Beauty, where she traveled the world to explore different ideas of beauty.
