Rachel Earl (born December 13, 1971) is an English writer and broadcaster. She is well-known for her 2007 book, My Fat, Mad Teenage Diary. This book was a collection of her own teenage diaries. Later, it was turned into a popular TV show called My Mad Fat Diary on the E4 channel. The show ran from 2013 to 2015.

Early Life and Education
Rae Earl was born and grew up in Stamford, Lincolnshire, England. She went to Stamford High School. After high school, she studied at Hull University. In 1994, she won the university's Philip Larkin literary prize. This award recognized her writing talent.
Her Career as a Writer
After finishing university, Rae Earl started her career in radio. She first worked as a copywriter, writing advertisements and scripts. Later, she became a radio presenter, talking on air.
Her most famous work is her 2007 book, My Fat, Mad Teenage Diary. This book shares her real-life experiences as a teenager in the late 1980s. It describes the challenges and adventures of growing up. In the United States, the book was published as My Mad Fat Diary in 2016.
She also wrote a follow-up book. It was titled My Madder Fatter Diary Vol. 2 and came out in 2014.
Her books inspired the TV series My Mad Fat Diary. This comedy-drama aired on the E4 channel from 2013 to 2015. While the books were set in the 1980s, the TV show took place in the 1990s.
Personal Life
Rae Earl now lives in Hobart, a city in Australia. She is married to Kevin Johnson. They have a son named Harry.
In November 2022, Rae Earl took part in a live game show called Hard Quiz. This event happened at the Theatre Royal, Hobart. Her special subject for the quiz was Princess Diana. Rae Earl won the show and received a special brass mug as her prize.
