Playing Career: A Journey Through Clubs
Raffaele Palladino started his football journey at Sporting Benevento. He then joined the youth teams of Juventus in 2002. While at Juventus, he helped his youth team win the Torneo di Viareggio tournament twice, in 2003 and 2004.
Early Loans and Serie A Debut
In the 2004–05 season, Palladino was loaned to Serie B club Salernitana. The next season (2005–06), he played on loan for Livorno. He scored his first goal in Serie A, Italy's top football league, on August 27, 2005. This goal helped Livorno win 2–1 against Lecce.
Returning to Juventus and Winning Serie B
Palladino returned to the Juventus senior team for the 2006–07 season. At that time, Juventus had been moved down to Serie B. He scored his first goal for Juventus in a 1–1 draw against AlbinoLeffe on November 18, 2006. On March 19, 2007, he scored three goals in one game (a "hat-trick") in a big 5–1 win over Triestina. That season, Juventus won the Serie B title and quickly moved back up to Serie A.
Moving to Other Clubs
On July 3, 2008, Palladino joined Genoa. He later moved to Parma on January 3, 2011. He played for Parma until 2015.
After Parma, he signed with Crotone on November 10, 2015. He played there for a couple of seasons before rejoining Genoa on January 31, 2017. In 2018, he signed with Serie B club Spezia. His last club as a player was Monza, which he joined on March 31, 2019.
International Appearances for Italy
Palladino played for the Italian national team. He made his first appearance for Italy when he was 23 years old. This was on November 21, 2007, in a 3–1 win against the Faroe Islands. He played as one of the three main attackers in that game.
Coaching Career: From Youth to Top Teams
After his playing career, Raffaele Palladino became a football coach.
Coaching at Monza
Palladino started coaching Monza's youth teams in 2019. On July 9, 2021, he became the head coach of their Primavera (under-19) team. His team did well, reaching the semi-finals of the 2021–22 Campionato Primavera 2 play-offs. Because of his success, Monza extended his contract in July 2022.
On September 13, 2022, Palladino was promoted to head coach of Monza's main team. This happened after the previous coach, Giovanni Stroppa, left the club. In his very first game as head coach, Palladino led Monza to their first-ever win in Italy's top league, Serie A. They beat the strong team Juventus 1–0. He was even named Serie A Coach of the Month for April 2023. He helped Monza stay in Serie A, and his contract was extended again in June 2023.
Coaching at Fiorentina
On June 4, 2024, Palladino was appointed head coach of another Serie A team, Fiorentina. He signed a two-year contract with them. However, on May 30, 2025, he decided to leave the team by mutual agreement. This happened even though Fiorentina finished sixth in Serie A and qualified for the next UEFA Conference League season.
How He Played: Style on the Field
Raffaele Palladino was a left-footed player. He usually played as a winger, which means he played on the sides of the field. He could also play as a forward or a second striker, helping to score goals. He was known for his excellent technical skills and his ability to dribble the ball past opposing players.
