Early Life and Education
Ram Lal Rahi was born on January 1, 1934, in a village called Dhakhara in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh. His father's name was Shri Dhodey. He finished his high school studies at Raja Raghubar Dayal Inter College, which is also in Sitapur.
His Political Career
Ram Lal Rahi became the Minister of State for Home Affairs during the government led by Prime Minister Narasimha Rao. This was from 1991 to 1996. As a Minister of State for Home Affairs, he helped manage important matters related to security and internal affairs of the country.
He was elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) four times from the Mishrikh area. He also served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) twice from the Hargaon area in Sitapur district.
Later in his career, he left the Indian National Congress party for a short time and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party before the Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election in 2017. However, he rejoined the Congress party in 2019.

Ram Lal Rahi's son, Suresh Rahi, has also followed in his footsteps and is involved in politics. Suresh Rahi is currently an MLA for Hargaon from the BJP.
His Passing Away
Ram Lal Rahi passed away on December 10, 2020, at the age of 86. He was admitted to a hospital in Sitapur after feeling chest pain and having trouble breathing. He died from a heart attack. He also tested positive for COVID-19 during the COVID-19 pandemic in India.
