King Rama Varma XVI is well-known for a special gift he gave. He provided a royal permission, called a Thitooram, to build a new church. This church was built inside the old fort city of Thrissur. This grand church shows the king's kindness and support for the Christians in his kingdom.
The End of His Reign: King Rama Varma's Death
King Rama Varma XVI passed away on March 21, 1932. He died in a city called Madras, which is now known as Chennai. He was 74 years old when he died. Because he passed away in Madras, people sometimes called him 'Madrasil Theepetta Thamburan'. This means 'The Thamburan (King) who passed away in Madras'. His death happened just two months after the previous king also passed away.
