History of Ramireno
How Ramireno Began
The land where Ramireno is located was given to a man named Don José Luis Ramírez. This happened in 1784, and the King of Spain gave him the land. This was part of a big plan by Col. José de Escandón to settle new areas.
Don José Luis Ramírez and his wife, María Bacilia Martínez, moved to this land. They came from a place called Revilla, which is now Guerrero. They crossed the Rio Grande river to start their new home.
The Ramírez Family and Community Growth
Don José Luis Ramírez and María Bacilia Martínez had ten children. Their families and the children's descendants stayed in the area. These families were the first people to form the community of Ramireno. They helped the small settlement grow over time.
