Discovering Ramsey's Past

Ramsey has an interesting history that dates back to the late 1800s. It was first planned out and established in 1883.

How Ramsey Began

On March 14, 1883, Ramsey was officially created. It was originally called Jackson City. A person named Howard Ramsey was responsible for laying out the town. He planned it right next to the Louisville, Evansville and St. Louis Railroad. This railroad is now known as the Norfolk Southern Railway.

Ramsey's Post Office

A year after the town was planned, the Ramsey post office was opened. This happened in 1884. The post office helped connect the community with the rest of the country.
