Park History
Rapids Water Park first opened its doors in 1979. Back then, it was much smaller, with only 4 acres of land and four water slides. Over the years, the park has grown a lot! Now, it's 30 acres big and has 35 slides, along with many other cool water attractions.
In 2009, Rapids Water Park celebrated its 30th birthday! To mark this special occasion, the famous racecar driver Danica Patrick visited the park for the celebrations.
Exciting Attractions
The park's website helps you pick your adventure by putting rides into three fun groups: Biggest, Coolest, and Wettest.
Biggest Rides
These are the most thrilling and intense rides for those who love a big splash!
- Big Thunder - This ride is a dark slide that ends in a giant funnel. The funnel is open at the top, about 60 feet wide, and 55 feet long.
- Black Thunder - Another exciting funnel slide, but this one is completely in the dark! It's a wild ride where you can't see what's coming next.
- Raging Rapids - Get ready for a bumpy ride on this raft slide, which can hold up to four people at once.
- Riptide Raftin' - This is a bigger raft slide that can fit five riders. It's perfect for a group of friends or family.
- Brain Drain - Are you brave enough? This ride has two trapdoor slides that drop you from seven stories high! The drop lasts about 8 seconds.
Coolest Rides
These rides and attractions are designed for everyone to enjoy, no matter their age.
- Baby Blue - A fun slide for single riders.
- Big Red - You can ride this slide alone or with a friend on a two-person raft.
- Body Blasters - These are two dark slides that are super long, stretching out for 1000 feet!
- Mega Mayhem - This is a new water coaster with two side-by-side slides. Riders speed through twists and turns, even going uphill thanks to special water jets. You can even see other riders through low walls!
- Pirate's Plunge - Two fast speed slides that will get your heart racing.
- Tubin' Tornadoes - These are two dark slides where you can ride alone or with a partner on a raft.
Wettest Areas
These areas are perfect for families and younger children, offering lots of splashing fun!
- Alligator Alley - A smaller version of the Criss Crossing pool, great for little ones to try.
- Big Surf - This is a massive wave pool that covers 25,000 square feet. Get ready for some big waves!
- Criss Crossing - In this pool, you try to jump across slippery, floating objects while holding onto an overhead net. It's trickier than it looks!
- FlowRider - This attraction creates a continuous, fast wave, like surfing! The simulated wave moves at 35 miles per hour.
