Raquel Eliana Argandoña de la Fuente (born December 5, 1957) is a famous Chilean TV presenter, actress, and politician. She also won a beauty pageant title! Raquel is well-known for her role as La Quintrala in a TV mini-series from 1986. She was also the mayor of Pelarco, a town in Chile, after winning the elections in 2000. Before her political career, Raquel was crowned Miss Universo Chile in 1975. She is also the mother of actress and singer Raquel Calderón.

Raquel's Journey: From Beauty Queen to TV Star
Raquel Argandoña started her public life in a very exciting way. In 1975, she won the title of Miss Universo Chile. This meant she represented her country in the international Miss Universe competition.
After her time as a beauty queen, Raquel became a popular face on Chilean television. She worked as a TV presenter, hosting many different shows. She also showed off her acting skills. One of her most famous acting roles was playing La Quintrala in a TV mini-series in 1986. This role helped make her a household name in Chile.
Her Time in Politics: Becoming a Mayor
Besides her career in entertainment, Raquel Argandoña also became involved in politics. She decided to run for public office to help her community.
Running for Office
Raquel first ran for a position in the local government of Pelarco in 1996. She ran as an independent candidate, which means she wasn't officially part of a major political party at that time. She did very well and was elected as a councilor for Pelarco. This role allowed her to help make decisions for the town.
Becoming the Mayor of Pelarco
In the year 2000, Raquel decided to run for mayor of Pelarco. This time, she was very successful! She won the election with a large number of votes. This made her the mayor of Pelarco in the Maule Region of Chile. As mayor, she was in charge of leading the town and making important choices for its people.
Later Elections
After her time as mayor, Raquel continued to participate in politics. In 2004, she ran for mayor in a different area called San Joaquín. Although she received many votes, she did not win that election.
In 2005, she tried to become a deputy, which is like a representative in the national parliament. She ran for the Distrito 25, which includes areas like La Granja, Macul, and San Joaquín. Again, she received a good number of votes, but she was not elected to that position.
Raquel Argandoña has had a very interesting career, moving from beauty pageants to television and then into politics, showing her many talents and interests.
