- Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH (1971): This is the first book, written by Robert C. O'Brien. It won the famous Newbery Medal award.
- Racso and the Rats of NIMH (1986): This book was written by Jane Leslie Conly. It continues the story after the first book.
- R-T, Margaret, and the Rats of NIMH (1990): Also by Jane Leslie Conly, this is the third and final book in the series.
Movies Based on the Books

The Secret of NIMH (1982)
In 1982, the first book, Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH, became an animated movie. It was called The Secret of NIMH. The famous director Don Bluth made this film.
The Secret of NIMH 2: Timmy to the Rescue (1998)
A sequel to the first movie, The Secret of NIMH 2: Timmy to the Rescue, came out in 1998. It's important to know that this movie sequel is different from the book sequels. It does not follow the stories written by Jane Leslie Conly.
Future Plans for the Series
There are plans for new movies based on the books. In 2017, it was announced that James Madigan would direct a new film. This new movie is planned to mix live-action and animation.
