Early Life and Education

Raul Renter finished school in 1938 at the Tallinn French Lyceum. Later, in 1948, he graduated from the Faculty of Economics at the Tallinn Polytechnical Institute. He loved learning about how countries manage their money and resources.

Becoming an Economist

In 1964, Raul Renter earned a special degree called "Candidate of Economic Sciences." This is like getting a very advanced master's degree. Then, in 1975, he wrote a big research paper for his "doctorate" in economics. His main area of study was economic forecasting. This means he tried to predict how the economy would change in the future.

Working for the Government

From 1957 to 1965, Raul Renter worked for the government of the Estonian SSR. He was a deputy chief in the Department of Economics. This department helped make important decisions about the country's money and businesses.

Research and Leadership

After that, from 1965 to 1978, he was the director of a special laboratory. This lab was part of the Estonian Academy of Sciences Institute of Economics. From 1978 until he passed away in 1992, he led a department at the Institute of Economic Management. He spent many years researching and helping to guide Estonia's economy.
