Raven: The Dragon's Eye is an exciting children's adventure game show from BBC Scotland. It's the third spin-off from the popular Raven series. This show had one season, which first aired on the CBBC Channel in 2009. Just like the earlier spin-off, Raven: The Secret Temple, brave warriors work in teams. Their goal is to collect special objects, which are mystical stones in this series, by completing tough challenges.
A unique part of Raven: The Dragon's Eye is that every episode starts with an important safety message from Raven himself. He reminds viewers that the warriors are always supervised by experts. This message tells everyone not to try these challenges at home.

The Story of the Dragon's Eye
After successfully finishing the Secret Temple quest, Raven returned home. He was able to unfreeze his land, but then he found out about a new danger. His old enemy, Nevar, was trying to find the Dragon's Eye. This is a magical stone that gives amazing power to whoever holds it. Raven knew he had to stop Nevar from getting it. He decided to go on a quest to destroy the Eye.
Raven chose sixteen of his best warriors to help him. They formed teams of four. As Nevar got closer to his goal, a new character appeared from the forest. This was Ervan, who used to work for Nevar. Ervan seemed to offer help to Raven. Now, Raven had to figure out if Ervan was a true friend or another enemy.
Meet the Characters
Raven
Raven (played by James Mackenzie) is the hero of the story. He returns to stop Nevar from getting the Dragon's Eye. Raven is careful about Ervan's help. He becomes more and more suspicious of Ervan as their adventure continues.
Nevar
Nevar is Raven's main enemy once again. He is a mysterious creature who wears dark robes and an iron mask. Nevar wants to find the Dragon's Eye to take over Raven's kingdom. He has many demons who follow his orders, making him a tough challenge for Raven's warriors. Nevar has been the villain in many Raven series. At the end of this quest, it seemed like he was destroyed. But then, he was seen on top of the Castle of Shadows, hinting that his evil plans might not be over.
Ervan
Ervan (played by Daniel Jackson) used to be a soldier for Nevar. Now, he offers to help Raven and his warriors. He even gives Raven special stones that can bring warriors back if they are eliminated from a challenge.
The Challenges
Warriors in Raven: The Dragon's Eye face many different challenges. These tests help them collect stones and prove their bravery.
Leadership Trials
At the start of the quest, warriors compete in special trials to become team leaders. Each team has its own set of challenges:
- Wolves: Pennant Run, Spear Strike
- Bears: Barrel Roll, Shot Hurl
- Otters: Ring Line, Symbol Square
- Eagles: Shield Race, Shape Build
Spirit Trials
These challenges test the warriors' skills and courage. Each one helps them collect more stones.
- Archer's Aim: Warriors use a bow and arrow to hit targets. Each hit earns a stone.
- Cursed Earth: Warriors must step on blocks to cross a dangerous area without touching the ground. They collect stones as they go. If they touch the ground or run out of time, they are out.
- Catapult Drop: Warriors use a catapult to knock cages of stones off tall posts. They have limited ammunition.
- Letter Path: One warrior crosses a path where questions are asked for each step. The answer must start with the letter they are on. Wrong answers mean losing a stone.
- Long Board: Warriors paddle a longboard across a loch to collect stones. They must return in time or be eliminated.
- Magnetic Maze: Warriors use a magnet from underneath a maze to guide another magnet on top. They try to get it to a hole in the middle to earn stones.
- Puzzle Count: Warriors solve number puzzles on a wall. They step on squares that add up to the answer. Mistakes cost stones.
- River Rope: Warriors pull themselves along a river in a small boat (coracle) using a rope. They collect stones as they go. Falling into the river or drifting away means elimination.
- The Chest: Warriors work together to move a heavy chest using logs. They need to find keys to open doors on the chest that hold stones.
- The Climb: Warriors climb a rock face using ropes. They collect stones as they climb.
- The Descent: Warriors abseil (climb down using ropes) a rock face into a boat, collecting stones.
- Thrall Threads: Warriors walk through threads with bells. They must reach the other side and collect stones without ringing a bell. Ringing a bell means elimination by Tree Spirits.
- White Water: Warriors paddle a boat down rapids, trying to collect stones.
- Rope Reach: Warriors collect stones from a rope bridge over a river. One stone is harder to get, but it must be collected.
Elimination Trial: The Torrent
This challenge is a race through a river. The warriors with the most stones get a head start. The first four warriors to finish move on to the next part of the quest. The last two warriors are eliminated.
Leadership Tasks for the Final Six
The six strongest warriors continue their quest. They must first compete in more leadership trials to choose a new leader.
- Long Throw: Warriors throw a javelin as far as they can. The top four move on.
- Rock Range: Warriors throw three rocks at a target on the ground. The goal is to get as close to the center as possible. The top two move on.
- Combat Ring: Two warriors fight to grab a cloth from their opponent's back. The best of three rounds wins. The winner becomes the leader of the final six.
The Final Trials
The last few days of the quest are the most challenging. The warriors face difficult tasks as they get closer to the Dragon's Eye.
Day 17
- River Raft: Warriors use a crossbow to pull a boat to shore, then travel downstream.
- River Escape: Warriors must grab a ladder from the river and climb up it. If anyone falls into the river, they are eliminated.
- Shuttle Line: Warriors set up and use a zipline to cross the river. They must set it up correctly to avoid falling.
- Demon Shields: Warriors retrieve shields using blocks. These shields protect them from nearby demons.
Day 18
- Demon Trap: Warriors cross a lake on longboards, avoiding demons who try to catch them. If caught, they are eliminated.
- Buried Treasure: Warriors use symbols from a journal to find parchments buried under stones. They must be careful of demons. During this challenge, Ervan and Nevar secretly swap Raven's real staff for a fake one.
- Magic Potion: Warriors collect blocks to build a stack. One warrior climbs to get a potion that reveals a hidden map on a blank parchment.
- Golden Portal: Warriors solve a riddle on a stone using their journal. The answer helps them activate a portal to the Castle of Shadows. Raven discovers his staff was swapped when he tries to use it.
Day 19
- Demon Patrol: Warriors build a broken catapult while hiding from patrolling demons. If spotted, they are eliminated.
- Catapult Attack: Warriors use the catapult to fire at the demons. They must hit them to clear the path.
- The Gauntlet: Using their shields, warriors must dodge missiles from demons on the castle walls. Getting hit means elimination.
- Blast Path: Warriors enter the castle through a path with dangerous gas holes. They must collect cylinders and place them in the holes quickly. The last warrior to cross is eliminated by the gas. The remaining warriors are then captured by Nevar.
Day 20
- Break Out: The captured warriors escape their ropes and find a way to get rid of a guard demon using a special potion. During this, Raven gets his real staff back.
- The Force: Warriors step on a path of symbols, remembering their way. The first to finish gets an advantage.
- Deadly Ground: Warriors cross an obstacle course in the castle courtyard. If they touch the "deadly ground," they are eliminated.
- The Lair: The final two warriors enter a tunnel. They must put their hands into boxes with creatures like maggots and snails to find a key. The first to find the key moves on. The winner then opens a cage with the Dragon's Eye, even with rats inside. Once the Eye is collected, the warrior is teleported to Raven. Ervan appears, revealing he led them there. Nevar then appears and defeats Ervan. Raven takes the Eye and, despite its power, destroys it with his staff. Nevar seems to be destroyed in the blast.
As a reward for her bravery, the Spirit Lord gives the winning warrior a staff of gold. She is then known as "Arkil, protector of the golden staff, savior of the spirits of the forest, hero of the Dragon's Eye".
However, as Raven and Arkil leave, Nevar is seen alive on top of the Castle of Shadows, showing that his evil is not truly gone.
The Warriors
Sixteen warriors started the quest, divided into four teams. Each warrior had a special name, usually 4, 5, or 6 letters long, taken from their real names. Each team had four members, usually two boys and two girls, except for the Wolves. Leaders were chosen on the first day.
